Also known as the unwind direction, the copy position is the direction of a label on a roll of labels placed on the web (label dispenser). The copy position may seem like an insignificant detail with little consequences, but incorrectly placing a roll of labels on the web can stop production and result in a waste of time and money.

When a reel of labels is placed in an incorrect copy position, it will wrongly place the brand, label, or graphical image on the designated product causing the label to be upside down or flipped facing the product. However, with a little research and careful attention these issues can be avoided by knowing your labeling machine’s specifications. If these specifications cannot be found personally, contact the labeling machine’s manufacturer and the information you are searching for should be easily obtained.
